Joint technical meeting of ESIS TC8 and DVM-Working Group Simulation
On March 27-28, 2025, Felix Weber attended the joint technical meeting of the Technical Committee on Numerical Methods (TC8) of the European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS) together with the DVM-Working Group Simulation in Munich. With a focus on computational modeling techniques for fracture, the topics ranged from phase-field approaches to XFEM and damage mechanics. Felix gave a talk on “Concurrent Molecular Dynamics-Finite Element Fracture Simulations of Amorphous Materials” and provided an overview of important aspects of his PhD project in FRASCAL. Throughout the two days, the exchange with scientists who have experience with both numerical and experimental approaches was very enriching. We would like to thank the organizers for this fruitful event and hope that the contact with both groups can be maintained in the future!
