FRASCAL retreat in Waischenfeld
From May 8th to May 9th, the research training group FRASCAL spent two days in Waischenfeld for a two-day retreat.
The time was filled with interesting exchanges, seminars and presentations:
After arriving in Waischenfeld in the morning, the second cohort of FRASCAL kicked off the event by reporting on their experience within the program and gave helpful advice to their successors, slowly passing the torch to the 3rd cohort. Then, everyone joined for a workshop on mastering international teamwork, in which different cultures and their way of working could be explored and could be better understood. After the seminar, everyone gathered for a nice barbecue and the day ended on a relaxing note.
The next day, the 3rd cohort started with a poster slam session where they presented short pitches of their recent and upcoming work, giving room for exchanges and new input. After that, Sebastian Pfaller gave insights on his career path and how his academic career developed, before everyone set off to a hike with wonderful weather in the area’s beautiful scenery. The hike was eventually topped off with a round of ice cream. After Paul Steinmann officially closed the event in the late afternoon, the otherwise wonderful experience was only mildly dimmed by the bus arriving 1.5 h hours late to take everyone back home – but of course, the motivation was still there!
Thank you again to all the organizers for making such a delightful event possible!
