Minilecture on Research Data Management
Within the Research Training Group GRK 2423 “FRASCAL”, Sebastian Pfaller gave a one-day “minilecture” on data management strategies, aspects of copyright and licences for own work, and its specific implementation in FRASCAL. First, Sebastian presented the terminology used in FRASCAL for the different kinds of data, specificities for the different disciplines, and requirements for short and long-term storage of data. In a second step, the entire group considered the F(indable), A(ccessible), I(nteroperable), and R(e-usable) principles, which should be respected and implemented for the data obtained during the research activities. Third, all participants discussed vitally pros and cons of different licences available, which form the basis for the re-usability of data. In a final hands-on training part, the group jointly prepared data sets for publication on the data storage platform ZENODO. Here, the theory discussed before could be turned into it practical application.
