Visit of Fabrice Detrez from UGE, France
From July 14th to July 17th, Fabrice Detrez visited the Capriccio group for scientific exchange within our collaborative project “BIO ART” and beyond. Fabrice is an assistant professor at the Université Gustave Eiffel with profound background in mechanics, materials science, geophysics, mechanical engineering, and nanotechnology. We started with a seminar on fracture simulations based on phased field modelling given by Prof. Laura de Lorenzis from ETH Zürich, which was followed by various discussions on possible connection points between our research. The next day, we had a joint ‘Capriccio Science’ seminar, where György Hantal from FAU’s PULS group who is also a researcher in our adjoint project P12 (fracture of thermosetting polymers) in FRASCAL (FRActure Across SCALes) gave a detailed overview of his research activities and recent achievements. Due to the complementary nature of his project and BIO ART’s numerical workpackages, his presentation stimulated in-depth scientific exchange. Fabrice’s visit was accomplished by various bilateral discussions in the field of modelling and simulation of polymers across the scales, as well as on methods with particular focus on BIO ART’s research activities.
It was a pleasure to host Fabrice and we are looking forward to future exchanges!
